OK, all my cats drink from the toilet. Is it normal or weird.

My cat used to do this to. It\\\’s normal. As ziggy_bo43 said, cats like fresh water, but water from the toilet isn\\\’t really all that clean. Just change your cat\\\’s water every day, and make sure his bowl is not plastic. Use a glass, stainless steam, or ceramic bowl…this keeps the water fresh for longer.

It\\\’s not weird at all. Cats like cool, \\\”fresh\\\” running water. Every time your toilet is flushed, cool, fresh water runs into it. However, once it\\\’s entered your bowl, it\\\’s no longer clean. It\\\’s not healthy for your cats to be drinking it, so I would recommend keeping the lid down.

No - the water is not clean. Just because someone hasn\\\’t relieved themselves in it doesn\\\’t make it clean. There is loads of bacteria in there! Not stuff you want in your kitty\\\’s system!

There is more and worse bacteria on the toothbrush and in the kitchen sink than there is in a clean toilet.

lucykitty - What is \\\”annoying\\\” is the fact that comments aren\\\’t working regularly, forcing us to create new answers (like this!) when we really just want to be piggybacking on our old answer. That\\\’s annoying - not the conversation itself! 
The site has been acting up lately, adding slashes around apostrophes & quotes, not allowing comments to be posted consistently, not sending alerts when people answer your questions, etc. The bugs of the website are annoying.
And as far as a \\\”cat friendly\\\” toilet bowl cleaner… Good luck with that!

And I don\\\’t want my cats eating my toothbrush or licking my sink, either… lucykitty - toilet cleaner is usually pretty harsh stuff. I wouldn\\\’t want my cats ingesting those chemicals!!!

It is not weird. They are just curious about the water. My cat has done that once before and we ended up with a big mess. Just make sure your toilet lids stay down!
