When should I let my kitten out by himself?

6 Answers  |  Asked By: Mischief_cat123   677

My kitten is 3 months old. He has been outside with me supervising him about 4 times. I’m not interested in keeping him as an indoor cat, so please nobody suggest that. When should I let him go out alone?

I don’t have a set answer for this as each cat will be different. The older the better I would say.

For the record though, I don’t believe any cat should be allowed to *roam*. Leash training or access to a safe cat enclosure are the only acceptable choices for outdoor exploration.

Kat, I already said I am not interested in keeping him as an indoor cat. I think it's cruel.

Your kitten is 3 months old so its not very safe for the kitty to go out by himself .
It would be better that when the kitten is nearly8-10 months old he can learn to go out himself.
As outside is not safe also. Cars are there , your cat can get lost or somebody may thake him. So there are many dangers too. but you can teach your cat how to be careful but not now . Let him be a littel more older, then he can go outside

I completely agree with you khushi it isn't very safe for a 3- month old kitten to go outside alone!!! It's better to wait till the kitty is nearly 8-10 months old till he should be able to go out alone!!!!!!!!

You could let her out in the daytime but keep her in a cat carrier at night. That’s what I do with my kitten. She is 3 months old too.
