I’m sorry to say your mom needs a lesson in compassion It’s also against the law to drop cats off out in the country. It’s called abandonment and cruelty… If she gets caught, she would be fined. I doubt Kamy got loose from the shelter. I’m sorry for you but sadly it would be better for these cats to be placed in a no kill shelter. It sounds like she did drop them off and Kamy found her way back to you.
Blankets, plenty of food, provide fresh water and change it often as it will freeze and a shelter to protect them from the wind and cold.

I'm assuming they're not neutered considering how your Mom is with these cats. Mating season is starting and the last thing you need is for them to have litters.

You need to explain to your mom that dropping a cat off in a rural area is plain cruelty…and also that it is against the law to purposely keep an animal outside in freezing weather. Then, if she is reconciled, you should spay the cat (I do not think it is your previous cat, but one who looks alike) and keep her. If not, then take her to a no-kill shelter where she may have a chance.

It’s illegal to drop cats off and your cat probly didn’t escape from the shelter. And also if your cat isn’t spayed I would get her because there is a HUGE overpopulation of cats and dogs.

I know your area. Try getting in touch with Franklin County Animal Rescue. They may be willing to take the cat. Here is the address. 13776 State Hwy 14 Benton, IL. I support this group.

Your cat probably didn’t escape from the shelter. Tell your mom what she is doing is illegal, and tell her she could be fined. In the meantime, try to bring the cat to the no-kill shelter, where it will have a good change of living and might be adopted by a loving family. Sorry to hear about your mom.

as a mom myself, i suggest NOT accusing your mom of animal cruelty or illegal activity.
on the other hand, what you are doing by giving your cat warm blankets, etc, is probably the best (and only) thing you can do right now. here’s an idea: ask your friends or relatives if they want to take your cat. that way, you can still visit your cat, and you will feel better that your cat is being taken care of .
