Male cats are fertile as early as four months old and each can impregnate hundreds of female cats every year. The average age is 6 to 8 months.
A female cat can start to reproduce from four months old and have up to three litters a year with five or six kittens per litter. The average age is 6 months.
In 5 years, one unneutered female cat can be responsible for 20,000 descendents.
An unneutered male cat is more likely to be at risk from fight injuries and road accidents.
A neutered cat is healthier, happier and more affectionate and undoubtedly will have a longer life.

Male cat’s are NOT like humans. When they are not neutured, they tend to spray and you can not get the smell out of the furniture. They roam away from home, which can get them run over by cars, attacked by stray or loose dogs, and the neighborhood will soon be over ran with stray cats. The cats are much happier when they are neutured. And they do not fight over who is the alfa cat in your house. They will not fight as much with other cats that are outside of your home. Male cats can start breeding and spraying at about 7 to 8 months of age. Think about it, your dad is a male and he is thinking about how HE would feel if he was fixed, not a cat. The cat does not know the difference. My two cats are fixed and they are happy and healthy kitties. My advice, get all your pets spayed and neutured. God Bless you

My boycat was about 6 months old when I had him neutered, and it didn’t make any difference to his behaviour at all. He was as happy afterwards as he was before.
Johnisgood2, above, is absolutely correct: it can be even more frustrating for your cat if he isn’t neutered, than if he is. He’d be more inclined to fight, he’d really be wanting to get outside — and if he did go outside, you can be sure he’d fight other males and would likely be responsible for more unwanted kittens somewhere.
Far better for him to be neutered, around 6 months old, and he’ll be much happier.

wow your dad is totally wrong. a neuteured cat is much more happy than an unneuteured cat. a cat that isnt neuteured will spray on the house, starting at 6 months, and will rip up and be destructive of your house. male cats can mate when they are about a year old.
Hope this helps,
