My cat is about a year old and he has really bad breath. I am wondering if it is a medical condition or just bad breath. He eats the same food as my other cat.

It’s good that you mentioned that they’re eating the same food, although in this case it probably doesn’t matter. Just like humans, cats are individuals. Some are more prone to dental issues than others. My *guess* is that there’s a problem with his gums/teeth. If he’s eating normally and not drooling excessively, you could *probably* wait until your next vet visit to have it checked out. But if it’s not a huge ordeal, it would be a good idea to have him checked over.
You might want to take a look inside his mouth yourself. You may not know what you’re looking for exactly, or understand what you’re seeing, but if you see anything other than pearly white teeth and pink gums, then chances are you’ve found the problem.
They do make products designed to improve cat breath, but that’s like putting a coat of paint on a damaged wall. Looks pretty but the problem is still there.

I suggest you go to the local pet shop and see if they sell some kind of food that will get rid of bad breath.
