My cat Blackjack, always have no collar on…..we buy him new ones all the time, but they won’t stay on….Is he rubbing them off or are cats helping him do it..but he needs one, because he is so old.

I don’t recommend putting collars on cats either. If you do it should be a breakaway collar and if that is what you are using, then it is working as it should and comming off when he gets caught on something.

If he’s old… it would be best to just keep him safe inside.

I say that if he is an indoor cat give him a harness. those are harder to get off and if he does get out then if someone finds him they know he belongs to someone. if that doesnt work get him chipped. my cats are chipped with my new address and name and # so i never worry. if your cat gets out and ends up in a shelter or vet's office they always check for chips

try a different kind of collar? maybe the one you’re getting bothers him too much and is too easy to remove

I wouldn’t put a collar on a cat and I wouldn’t let them outside either especially if he’s old.

Cats, being naturally curious, can get themselves into some really tight spots. A breakaway cat collar is designed to snap open quickly if it gets caught on something. So if your cat is in danger - hooked on a tree branch, snagged on a fence, caught on a window latch - she can break free and live to chase another mouse. If your cat wears a collar, please make sure it’s a breakaway collar. But please be aware that some breakaway collars aren’t safe. People have tested them and they barely broke apart.
