There is something wrong with your cat. It’s doing this because this is the only way it knows how to tell you something is wrong. The way to get it to stop is to figure out what is wrong and correct it.
It’s your job now to figure it out. If you have already been to the vet and nothing is medically wrong, then go forward on the list below and eliminate thing by thing until you figure it out.
Factors Contributing to Inappropriate Elimination
• Medical Conditions: Cats avoiding the litter pan should be examined by a veterinarian to rule out a medical condition. Laboratory tests will need to be performed in most cases, however, if a condition does exist, immediate treatment will help resolve the behavioral problem. Possible medical conditions include: colitis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, kidney or liver disease, or feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD). Medical conditions such as arthritis, FLUTD, anal sac disease, and some forms of colitis, which cause pain urinating or defecating may also result in inappropriate elimination
• Stress: Cats of all ages experience stress at some point in their lives (just like us). Stress can be a major cause of inappropriate elimination, and known stressors such as moving, changes in routine, or changes within the family structure (new members added or family members leaving home) can result in inappropriate elimination. Reducing these stressors or decreasing their impact on the household will benefit your cat and you, too.
• Box Location & Contents: Some cats may not like where their box is located; too close to their food or water, in a high traffic area, or on a different level of the house than where they spend most of their time. Some cats are very particular and will not defecate in the same box in which they urinate or go into a box which has been used by another cat. Most cats do not like a dirty litter box. Clean out waste from their litter boxes at least once daily, and wash the litter boxes weekly so that they don’t decide to eliminate elsewhere in your home.

Toilet training may not be such a good idea, because cats are intrested by the swirling water and flush the toilet over… and over… and over.

you can teach your cat to use toilet
here is the easiest way to teach a cat to use toilets
if you put the litter box on an unused or seldom used toilet seat, the cat will get used to jumping up there. Next, buy one of those pan holders that you normally see around Thanksgiving; the kind that fit around the pan that contains the turkey so that it’s easier to move…put the handles around the cat box, lift the toilet seat (like a guy would) and sit the litter box on top. Use very little litter once the cat gets used to this method. After a while of this, try removing the litter box. To help in the transition, you may want to put something on the edge of the toilet, such as a sticky air freshener that the cat can associate with the litter box. Leaving it on there once the litter box is removed may assure it that that is in fact where it should be “going”.

If you teach your cat to use the toilet, you can save kitty litter money. I did it and it was amazing! I am a kid 11 years old, and I belong to a local 4-H club, and I did a demonstation on training my cat to use the toilet! Guess what! I won in my club, my county, my state, and my region! I won all of them 1st place! It really works!

some cats are so scared that they refuse to use a toilet because they dont like to hang over the water. if your cat is too small they could fall in too. keep on trying to teach them to use the litter box again. my cat goes outside though. he caught on with that very easily.

Try putting the litter box in the bath tub then move it out to the spot you want it but not to far after he uses it a few times then it might work!

if you ever see him going in the sink or in the bathtub hurry and rush him to the litter box and he will learn not to go in the bathtub or sink.

If your listening to any of these strange people, my advice DON’T go to other websites to get the real answer to your questions.

There are some very good answers on this page… there are also some very odd answers on this page. I think the best idea would be to try and go back through training him to use the litter box, but if Kat is right about something being wrong with him… you could have a serious problem… I’m not sure about what to do then…

By the way, most cats hate having things on them, even a collar. If this cat really is just being fiesty, it would certainly just claw off the diaper and run away.

They have toilet training kits for cats if you would like to train him. Try to put a citrus smell where he is going to the bathroom where he is not suppose to go. And that should stop him from going to the bathroom in the wrong places. Good luck.

you should teach him to use the potty in the toilet but you have to flush it. so you can make it if you want to. i have 5 kittens at home but i dont train them to go potty in the toilet. their mom died so we had to bottle feed them for about 5 weeks. we also had to train them to use the litter box. so all you have to do is leave it in a room with the litterbox, food and water you check on it off and on to see if it is using the litterbox. so take my advice and help your cat.
