I am looking to change my kitten’s litter to a better quality one. Do you think I will have a rough time with her making the transition? Are there any specific litters suggested?

I’ve never had a problem switching litters, but it is a good idea to mix the new with the old. It never hurts to start slowly with anything new when dealing with cats!
As for what’s good or best, that’s up to you and your cat.
I personally don’t care for clumping litter. I’ve seen it get clumped between the paw pads and on the bloomers, and I find the tracking of grains of sand to be unpleasant.
There are more eco-friendly litters that I haven’t tried - these might be the wood or newspaper pellets or corn.
There are silica crystal types that I did try, but I ultimately decided against them. For one, it can be dangerous if there’s any chance your cat will ingest any. But I decided against them mainly because the roundness of the pellets meant that they ended up all over my kitchen floor, and they made a horrid CRUNCH if stepped on.
I’m using Fresh Step clay litter. The dust is a drawback - and for asthmatic cats this would be bad - but it works ok for us.

it depends how finicky your cat is whether you will have a hard time or not. definately mix the new litter in with the old first. start with 25% new and 75% old, then as you remove litter as waste keep adding the new.

My cat Alissa never has a hard time when I change litters. But the one that she likes the most is the clumping litter. She seems to be happier with it. Yeah it does make a small mess, but what cat litter doesn’t? If it is a kitten, I would recommend Fresh Step, it is easier to clean when you have more then one kitten at a time. Good luck with that.

A couple of years ago we switched to Swheat Scoop cat litter, made from wheat. (I wonder if it’s going to be come really expensive now, with the rise in the price of wheat, generally. Hm…)
But my cats loved it, and it really reduced odour too! It absorbs really well.
Other friends absolutely love the World’s Best Cat Litter, and I’ve heard only good things about it. So that’s another possibility.
Of course, the best way to make sure odour isn’t a problem is to scoop at least once a day. None of this leaving stuff around for 3 or 4 days.
