We scoop daily, and scrub the box and do full litter changes once a month.

If a cat pees on the side or the bottom… we wipe it off though.

He’s a great page about litterbox care!

No not really. You should clean the litter about once a week, so 5 days is pretty good too.

Clay litter should be replaced at least once a week if not twice and the pan should be washed each time. The urine soaks to the bottom of the pan and smells. Actually they say you should also change the scoopable litter. How often depends on how many cats you have.

I think it all depends what kind of litter you use for your cat. If you have an inside cat and he uses the litter box daily, no matter what between the poo and the pee, you are going to have a stinky litter box. Lets face it cat poo and pee sticks and if is inside a house, even more. If you have an outside cat, then you don’t have to worry about it. In my case that’s why I use the Breeze system from Tidy Cats, and honestly it works great and my Kitty loves it. It separetes the poo from the pee and it doesn’t stick! But another thing is that I personaly don’t like to have the litter box dirty and everytime my kitty use the litter box i clean it, that’s just me. But anyways, I guess it all depends what brand/kind of litter you use for your cat’s litter box.

Well it all depends. Fattyratty may have a lot of cats, or it smells really bad so she has to do it more often.

I have three cats, and what i do is scoop the litter every week, and completely change it every 1-2 months. You may have to do this more or less if you have a different number of cats.

Why do I have a negative? I thought my answer was reasonable. Does anyone object? If you do please tell me

I didn't give you the negatve but I'm thinking someone didn't agree with your cleaning schedule. You really should be scooping on a daily basis.

I have a different amount of cats then you, and I don't need to scoop that often. What I do works fine for me. The litters never become stinky or full. I can go for longer then that without having a problem, but I don't.

Would you want to go to the toilet if it hadn't been flushed???????

I agree with Mischief_cat123. If her scooping routine works for her, then it's fine.

not to be rude, but it depends how much your cat uses it. if your cat is a outdoor cat, it might have its own place to do his or her “buiseness” outside.

Clay litter should be changed at least once a week if not twice and the pan should be washed each time. We always use clay litter with kittens and we changed the litter daily. Urine soaks to the bottom and smells. Actually they say you should replace scoopable litter, too. How often depends on how many cats you have. We also replace our litter pans when they start looking worn in the bottom. We wash our litter pans on a rotation schedule so one pan gets washed every day.

They also say you should have one pan per cat plus one extra pan. We have 30 cats and no way can we find the space for 30 pans. We have 10 litter pans so 3 cats to a pan. And we use the largest pans they sell. The key is cleaning. Like Daisy, we scoop 4 or 5 times a day. If we see a cat go into a pan, we go scoop.

You should change it ever 3-5 days, also, remember to clean like scrub the sides too.
It really depends on how much your cat poos or pees.

i think you should change all of the litter out every 3-4 weeks. or if you never want to change the litter than you can just use the clumping kind. if you use the clumping kind litter will come out automatically because it clumps around the poo and pee. so if you use the clumping kind you can just keep adding litter so there is at least 1 inch to 1.5 inch
