Put your cat Skitty on 1 side of a window, preflebly outside. Then put you new kitten in the house, looking out the window. Do the every day until the get used to each other.

I think shes doing doing that because she is probably jealous and will refuse to play with your kitten. try loving the old cat more and doing the same with the kitten. do this everyday. if she starts becoming more mean just put your kitty at one side of the house and your old cat at the other side of the house. once you start doing this they will start thinking that something happened to the other one and will start becoming nicer each and every day.
