Have you had him checked by a vet to make sure he\\\’s not ill? Cats are fastidious groomers. If he’s not taking care of himself, it’s very possible he’s ill. Have his teeth been checked? Do you use a good quality cat food? Poor quality cat food can cause horrible skin and fur problems for cats.

Get him groomed if you have never done it before. You should brush your cats fur at least once a week. There is dry shampoo if your cat doesn\\\’t like water. An bring it to the vet.

He\\\’s probably an amphibian. Hold him underwater and wash his back - he\\\’ll breathe through his gills while you do.
