We trim claws as needed on our indoor only cat. Usually when Hubby or I get punctured by an offending nail is when we know it’s time. About once per month. LOL!
Here are two fantastic guides with pictures to teach you how to trim your cats nails.

If your kitty is an outdoor cat, DO NOT TRIM HIS NAILS! They are his only defense against anyone or thing he may come up against. For an indoor cat, you can trim them whenever they get sharp. You can sort of tell where the “dead” part of the nail ends and the nerve endings begin. You know you have gone too far if your cat cries and a drop or two of blood appears. Try to avoid this though! ![]()

You should cut your cats nails when they get too sharp and start tearing up the furniture. You want to cut it a little bit before the pink area on the inside of their nails. If you cut that then they will be in pain

you should cut them 1 time a week and not to short or you might cut the nail tissue and that hurts the cats nail

dont trim your cats nails at all because the cats nails can protect the cat from danger.

Well, dont cut your kitty’s nails too short or else he may start to whine. And it might happen- trust me. But i think you should trim his nails maybe once or twice a month.
