How do I get my cat to like to be brushed?

Well, I found out that if there are certain places where your cat would like to be scratched (all cats I’ve seen like to be scratched behind the mouth around close to the neck) I brush there, and then I jsut keep going all the way to the tail. She just pushes her face right up to the brush and from then on she loved her brushing.

Yesterday there were wonderful suggustions. A suggustion was made to take a dryer sheet, Someone else suggusted taking a damp not a wet cloth. Cats usually prefer a comb over a brush, both will work.

Please don't use a dryer sheet on your cat. The SPCA posted this: Fabric softener products can contain detergents known as cationic that have the potential to produce significant gastrointestinal irritation, particularly when the sheets haven’t yet been used. These effects include drooling, appetite loss, oral burns and, in some cases, possibly even ulceration of the gastrointestinal tract. While dogs and other animals can also be affected, cats are especially sensitive to cationic. As such, we would advise against using fabric softener sheets on your cats.

some cats will never like to be brushed,but if you brush them often they will eventually get used to it. I would try just brushing your kitty for a short period of time everyday or every other day until they get used to it. You won’t get all the mats out in one sitting,it will probably take 3 or 4 if they have alot of mats. They should eventually get used to the brushing and not protest as much. If your cat has long hair they should be brushed everyday anyways to keep the mats from forming.

what i did with my cats was i took their scent on a wash cloth and let him sniff it. then when he descided he liked it i got his scent on the brush.

you might even want to use a tooth brush. my cats LOVE it!
