Yes, it’s awful. Try an alternative like SoftPaws. The little colored nail caps make it look like kitty has painted nails. Softpaws are safe, non-toxic, and easy to apply. Simply trim the nails, fill nail cap 1/3 with adhesive, put on the claw, and hold in place for a few moments. Most cats don’t mind them.

I think it is cruel because what they do is take the whole nail off.
It would be like if someone ripped our nails off including the parts where it is pink.

Yes It is very cruel. It is so painful for cats. It isn’t just triming nails its an operation.
It is like losing a part of finger. Claws are cats defence. They use these to defend or attack their enemies. Their behaviour can change by delawing. My mom who had a cat when she was is stictly against declwing cats.

I think it is very cruel. People who declaw their cat care more about their furnature than the cat. People think it’s just like taking off our finger nails. This is not true! Declawing usually includes removing the last bone in each toe. This is the equivelant of cutting off a human finger to the second knuckle, where your finger bends.

yes it is extremely cruel because declawing a cat is not just like taking a humans nails off because a cats claw has so many different functions like defending themselves!!! people just think that if they declaw their cat they may protect their furniture and themselves from little scratches and bruises but maybe you keeping your furniture nice and neat and protecting yourselves from scratches, but things that are worse than just a few scratches could happen to cat if you declaw it. it is natural for a cat to scratch so just live with it and get a scratch post, because at peak pets in the victoria centre i have seen a few scratch posts and some are attached to the bed and have little play balls dangling down but one has a toy mouse on it, so dont worry if your cat scratches just put up with it!!! also a cat sometimes scratches itself whilst grooming itself because it detangles cats hairs, gets rid of dead hairs and it gets rid of skin irritations when it has to itch itself! we are lucky we can scratch ourselfs whenever we like but a cat cant if you declaw its nails! if you declaw a cat it is impossible for a cat to climb and however many times you tell your cat to stop climbing it may or may not carry on and i would find it very hard to climb something if i was a declawedcat! a cat needs it claws because scratching is its self-defense so if you declaw your cat it cant cli b and it cant protect itself and i dont think i would like to follow my cat everywhere or if i was a cat i sure wouldnt want my owner following me all day! as well as all these things i have talked about it also destroys the cats ability to hunt, so if you want your cat to play with a toy mouse it is useless because your cat wont a.) be able to catch it and b.) its useless for hunting.

Also it is very painful because the cats have to walk around on thier paws after the operation. It takes a long time to heal and sometimes never heals at all. If you have an outdoor cat they would have no defense against something trying to hurt them and they can’t climb trees which is their main escape route. As for an indoor cat, if they get out of the house they have the same problems.
