The oldest cat ever recorded was 38 years old when it passed away, so I would say no, a cat can not live to 100 years old.

No offense, but some people here just joined cats.com for the heck of it! They joined it
because they could make fun of the poor kittens and cats! I bet those people love dogs, and hate cats!
So this website is not about anything like joining for the heck of it! It’s about sticking together as a cat group! Well, i know I’m really off topic but maybe some of you can stick to what i said. And well, i think
a cat could maybe live 100 years, if you took care of it well!

Miao!

Kitties live for as long as we want them too as long as we keep them in our hearst. The average lifetime for a cat is about 14-16 years. In cat years that is about 80 to 90 years. So don’t dispare, your lovely kitty will never leave you in spirit, only in body.

A 21 year old cat would be equivelent to a 100-year-old human, and the oldest cat on
record was 36 or 38. A cat usually lives 13-15 years,I have never known a cat die younger.
The answer to your question is probably no,but I sure wish they lived that long!

Answer 29

The life expectancy of your cat is determined by how and where she/he lives. Outdoor cats are prone to many different situations and accidents then that of indoor cats. There have been some cats that live well into their thirties, but the normal life span of an indoor cat is anywhere between 12-15 years. Although your cat may live well into her twenties.

If your cat is an outdoor cat then her normal life span is only 3-4 years. That is a big difference compared to the life span of an indoor cat! When your cat goes outside there are many things taht can happen. Many cats are killed every day from being hit by cars or being prey to other animals. As well as many other diseases and illness that an outdoor can catch easier then an indoor cat.

I had a cat live 17 years outdoors, so it really depends... if the cat is savvy enough to stay away from cars, dogs and coyotes they can live quite a long time. Though by in large, yes they do tend to live short lives if they are not that clever, so it's best to keep them inside if it is possible.

Answer 38

Felines in general, domestic and wild, big and small, tend to live around 4 - 12 years in a natural environment. Females generally live longer than males because they don’t battle as much over territory and mates and are less prone to injury-caused death.

For domestic cats in a captive setting (neutered and preferably indoors) the average is 10 - 15 years. Some make it into their twenties, other people here have quoted the longest-lived cat so I won’t repeat it, but no, a cat cannot live to be 100 years old under any sort of natural condition. They are small animals with fast metabolisms. Lifespan to a large degree is genetic and as cells divide and age they become damaged on the genetic level (google “DNA telomeres” if you want to know the specifics) and eventually an animal or person will die no matter how well they are taken care of because it is a natural process. Even in the absence of virus and bacteria, eventually cellular damage will cause heart failure or cancer in even the healthiest individuals. It’s just a fact of life.

Actually all, a cat that is 21 yrs. old would be 100 cat years. This means that the oldest cat - I’m not trying to get in the fight, so let’s say it’s about 40 - would be 176 years old. Yes, folks, and the average age for a normal cat is 64. That’s all I really know. Well, just for the record I will put up a cat aging chart.

Human Years | Cat Years
————————————————
1 | 15
2 | 24
3 | 28
4 | 32
5 | 36

From then, you just add 4 cat years with each human year.

they might live that long in cat years( 1 human year = 3 cat years )so if the oldest cat was 38 in human years then they were111 years old in cat years. So they could in cat years.
