It’s not the fur…The primary cause of allergic reactions to cats is caused by allergens found in the cat sebaceous glands in the cat\\\’s skin, such as the allergenic glycoprotein called Fel D1(short for \\\”Felis domesticus\\\”), it is also secreted via saliva in lesser quantities. When cats lick themselves, they spread this protein, which is rather sticky, and glues itself onto dust particles, the home, your clothing and their fur; whether it\\\’s long, short, straight, curly, or absent. As all cats have sebaceous glands, all cat breeds can potentially cause allergies. Allergic allergens are also found in the faeces, serum, urine, mucous, dander, and hair roots of the cat.

Helpful vitamins for allergies…
QBC Plex-3 x day-Quercitin, Bromelain, Vitamin C Complex Quercitin has an antihistamine effect and stabilizes cells to stop inflammation Magnesium/Calcium-may stop acute asthmatic episodes by increasing the capacity of the lungs. Vitamin D-needed for repair of tissues. Multi-vitamin with Selenium-Multi-vitamin is necessary for enhanced immune function and Selenium is a powerful destroyer of free radicals from air pollution. Coenzyme Q10-a very powerful antioxidant that aids circulation, stimulates the immune system and increases tissue oxygenation and has vital anti-aging effects. It has the ability to counter histamine therefore is beneficial to people with allergies, asthma or respiratory disease. Also considered to be a giant step forward in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease. It strengthens the heart muscle.

My husband is allergic to dogs, birds, cats, hay (we have horses) as well as ragweed and dust. I researched vitamins that might be helpful for him and they have kept him out of the ER. We have a HEPA air filter by the bed as well as filters in the living room and bird room. Air conditioners work great in the summer. I vacuum and wash the filters from the air cleaners and air conditioners on a weekly basis. It really is better for the person who\\\’s allergic NOT to sleep with cats but my husband doesn\\\’t want to lock them out of our room. I vacuum and dust every day. There also are sprays to use on the cat but I\\\’m sorry to say I don\\\’t recall the name. We used it in years past when we only had a few cats and it worked wonderfully. We applied it to our cats fur on a weekly basis. But with all the additions, we had to find other ways to get relief for my husband.

Another option is allergy shots. I hear they work very well but my husband has never had them. His hours are too crazy for him to get to a doctor.

We recently began using Bee Pollen capsules twice a day. I\\\’ve told several people about it who have allergies and sinus headaches. They said within 2 to 4 weeks, the symptoms were gone. I started my husband on it as well and he has seen a huge improvement. He had continued to suffer with hay but had been doing well with the animals. He couldn\\\’t breathe after picking up a load of hay and his eyes would be nearly swollen shut. The last load of hay he picked up was 30 bales and he was amazed that he felt fine!

I\\\’m sorry if this posts twice. I\\\’ve been having issues lately with my postings not posting or coming up twice.

you can also try the nasal sprays if you dont want to get allergy shots. My roommate was allergic to a cat i was sitting for and she picked up the nasal spray at the local drug store and it went away after two sprays.

Wash your hands a bit more frequently, and don\\\’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth without first washing your hands, if possible. This will help reduce the amount of dander that gets into your system. Also, have your girlfriend bathe the cat, if he/she will tolerate it reasonably well.

The cause of most cat allergies is cat dander. That is basically particles that come off of the cats body.
Look at a store with a pet section or a local pet store and try to find cat allergy prevention medicine or a shampoo or spray to put on the cat to make it so it doesn\\\’t leave as much dander around the house.
