Is This OK?

10 Answers  |  Asked By: BlackCat   5

My cat, Sparta, sleeps in my bed with me on top of one of my pillows and a lot of people say it’s bad for a cat to sleep with you, and it should have it’s own bed.

What’s wrong with having a cat in your bed?
Is it wrong?

There are some good reasons why a cat shouldn’t sleep with you, and then there are superstitious ones. I can’t guess what is motivating your people to say this though.

The superstition is that cats will steal your breath while you’re sleeping, and that’s just nonsense.

The only bad thing about sleeping with a cat is that if you ever want to stop sleeping with it, good luck getting it to change its habit!

That and all the hair in your bedding. But if that isn’t an issue for you, then there’s no bad here.

One of my cats sleeps with me and she even stole “my” side of the bed. Except for waking up with fuzzy PJ’s, it’s all good!

some people say it’s bad because they say that the cat might give you asthma from its breath the more and more you sleep with it. I sleep with my cat every night for about 5 months and nothing until now happened

Well, I'm not alergic to cats and I've been sleeping with my cat (Or cats) for a long time...People say it's because of a bad habit or so...

it’s not at all bad if your cat or cats sleep w/ you. if nothing bad has happened from your cast sleeping with you, then don’t worry about anything bad happening. but if something bad happened to you or if you got sick, it’s not from the cat. but if you’re worried that the cat has given you something, then maybe you should take it to the vet & get it checked just to be safe.

The only way a cat shouldnt sleep with you is if your expecting a baby, and the cat tends to like to sleep near your face, as it could do this with the infant and possibly suffocate him/her. Other than that I cant see why not! My cats both sleep with me every night :)
