They don’t respond

My cats don’t respond to their names at all. They come if I call them only by gesturing with my hands. Is there anyway I can make them understand their names?

You can try renforceing to them to come when you say thier name by relating thier name to something positive such as a toy or a treat or affection. Train them by saying thier name and when they respond to it give them something positive they want in return.

Heres a really good tip & it works REALLY well!!! when your cats are eating or doing something like that go over to them and constantly repeat their names to them that way they get it in their heads & they might realize ” Oh! i think this is my name alright!!” but this might take some time so beware. tell me if this works for you!!! hope this helps you!!

It might take time for them to learn there names. my cat mittens,it took her 10 years, the more freqwently you say there name while gesguring to them, the faster they will learn what it means.

Maybe you have not been using their names a lot, like ever since they were born, always calling them, then after some time they would get used to their names being called and understand that is what they are called and respond to you. Otherwise an expert like Kat might tell you exactly, just have patience.
