I’m sorry you lost your cat. That is an awful feeling. This is most likely happening because you did not bury your kitty deep enough. Your other cats can smell your dead cat. I think your best options are to put large objects over the spot like rocks or a bench or something like that or dig a deeper hole.
No lecture but if you can use this to convince your family to keep the cats inside, that would be much better for the kitties.

You need to find some good sized rocks to put over the grave. I can’t help but wonder why you would continue to let your cats out after losing one like that.

I was wondering the same thing. If they were my cats they would be inside and alive. I think your comment to catsofmany was uncalled for.

Sad that you would keep letting them out after losing a cat like this.

It baffles me that people even bother HAVING a cat if they're just going to subject it to such a grossly shortened life span. :*(

cats have a very keen sense of smell. they can even smell the critters & bugs crawling underground. so your other cats can probably smell your dead cat in the ground. (sorry for the loss) ![]()

you should put a fence with gate around its grave and when they come up to it they get a lil’ little shocker on the nose

For anyone burying a dead pet, the best way to prevent other animals (including raccons and dogs) from trying to dig it up is to use lye or ashes on its body after puttring it in the grave, finish burying it, and place a LARGE rock on top with more ahses on the fresh dirt around the rock.

Don’t worry, babyj23, i have the same issue. my kitty, frinklin, ran away when i was 3 and people are like “it’s so sad and bad of you to still let your other cats out” but, they are our family’s cats and that’s what we do with them.

they’re probably trying to show affection to your deceased cat-try spraying perfume on the grave-that may help.
