My kitten has developed a bad habbit. He likes to dig in the house plants. As first I thought he might be trying to use it as a litter box, but he just digs around in the dirt and leaves. It’s making a mess on the carpet.
What should I do?

around the plants, you can put rubber nubs, that dont hurt the cat, but remind it to stay away from the plant. you can buy these rubber nub mats from doctorsfosterandsmith.com. you can also try spraying a citrus based cat spray (bought at a pet store) and spray the citrus on the plant, in the dirt, and a little bit around the palnt.
Hope this helps,

Hey Mischief_cat123! Those are great ideas that Johnisgood2 said. I agree. Here are some ideas:
Bury citrus rinds in the soil of your house plants to keep cats from digging. Orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime rinds are all unpopular with felines. Be aware that the rinds will break down into the soil (composting) so you will need to replace them from time to time.
Try Rocks in your plants! To keep Kitty from digging in your house plants, purchase inexpensive river stones or collect attractive stones and cover the dirt in the top of the planter. The rocks won´t hurt the plant, and will allow water and fertilzer through to the soil. I would suggest you use stones/rocks no smaller than a golf ball, or Kitty could have just as much fun digging up small stones as he does the plant.
