Maybe it is because she/he is only use to you and your family and the stangers scare her/him it normally isn’t that simple though. Did you cat ever have a bad experience with a human or a dog or a loud dinging noise. Many factors come into play. like when dose you cat growl on certin days or when it hasn’t had enough sleep if it is hungry or when you migh have stepped on its tail maybe it had recently smelled a dog or maybe you had introduced a new pet. Any one of those could come into play. Dose it growl only at the door bell or at you or a chair any thing.
But you cat may also have an anger problem.
But i think it is more of something like a taritory problem. It has its home with you and your family and the other humans treaten its security and the door bell problem could be like.. has you cat ever gotten caught in the door or a door after someone came in that could be it that sound is related to a bad memory. Of any sort it may not be any of the ones i have listed!
