My two 10-yr old cats do not like to be picked up for longer than 1 minute. How can I cut their nails if they won\’t let me hold them? Even if I touch their paws when they\’re sitting on my lap, they\’ll jump right off. Help!

You are going to have to try to get them used to you touching thier feet, without actually trimming yet. It’s recommended to do this at a young age, but since it’s to late, your just going to have to keep touching thier feet over and over until they don’t care. You don’t need to be forceful about it, just slip in a touch whenever it’s feasable.

And here is a great guide for trimming claws.

If you have a cat you think you would know that cat’s do not need there claws clipped. They pull on there nails themselves and thats all that they need to do. You never clip your cat’s nails. Only dog’s have to have there toe nails clipped. Ask your vet he will tell you the same thing. If your trying to just clip the ends so they are not so sharp it really don’t matter they will still be sharp.
