Your cat is probably just trying to get the dog to play with it. Your cat can\\\’t hurt your dog with claws, but it can bite. I hope it doesn\\\’t annoy the dog too much, the dog can bite back. I think their play together should be supervised all the time for at least a month or two, to make sure neither goes overboard and takes a serious bite.

I would suggest to separate them as much as possible.

Usually to have a cat and dog cooporate they have to have lived together since they were young. Sometimes cats and dogs will respect each other even if this is not the case, but most of the time they treat each other like intruders on their territory. I suggest keeping the cat on one side of a door in your house and your dog in another for about an hour every day. They will hear and smell each other (maybe even see if you have a glass door) but they won\\\’t be able to contact each other. In this way, your dog and your cat will get used to each other\\\’s precence. When their not in the two rooms for their hour, keep them as far away from each other as possible. Hope this helps.
