Is it true female cats are easier to deal with than male cats?

5 Answers  |  Asked By: ReniSqueaky   159

Once I had a male cat and even after we got him fixed, he was a complete bastard cat! He’d bite, scratch, and hiss. Plus he was always running outside every chance he got.He eventually ran away. Now, my new cat is laid-back and sweet. She’s fixed too and she’s a female. And the only time she goes outside is every once in awhile she goes out on the deck. She’s also way nicer and much more affectionate. I’m asking this because if I got another cat, I was wondering if females were a better choice than males.

For the cats I have had (only 15), I would say that is true in general, the exception being females over six months old who have not been fixed.

I have a neutered male who is absolutely adorable, and I have had wonderful females as well. I think a lot depends on the individual cat’s environment. Spayed and neutered cats do make better companion pets though.

It depends on the personality of the cat and how they’re raised. We have 20 male cats and 17 females. Seven are foster cats. The males are just as loving as our females.

I 100% agree with Catsofmany; it depends on the personality of the cat.

This happened to my mom. Her cat kept leaving for longer periods of time and eventually she never saw him again. I think only some cats are like this. I know many sweet male and female cats. I don’t think it has anything to do with gender.
