I have this male cat, and he likes everyone in the family but avoids me.H e will also withdraw when i reach out to him.How can i make him like me?

Unfortunately, cats decide whether they like you or not. I have a female cat that doesn\’t even know I exist. She\’s totally in love with my boyfriend. My male cats are obsessed with me so I figure the females like guys and the males like girls. I\’ve tried everything but she still doesn\’t really care I\’m there so I guess, what I\’m saying is, you can\’t change their minds.
Some things may help though. Try to be the one that puts food in her bowl and give her treats. She\’ll eventually associate you to food, which is always good.

Cats do play favorites, and make claims of ownership/dominance over humans and other cats. Your cat may believe you belong to your other cat. Not allowing you to pet him is a way to show respect/loyalty to your other cat. If it is upsetting to you, I would suggest following sgiansante\\\’s suggestion.

it may be because he is indepedent, he may just like you because he decides to.
