You might just want to stop smooching him so hard so he doesn’t get so hissed off at you. Most cats want affection only on THEIR terms. Not yours. That’s just the nature of the cat and you will just have to learn to live with it.

This question reminds me of Elmyra from Tiny Toons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elmyra_Duff :-)

I strongly suggest you refrain from kissing him “so hard”. Sounds like you are being abit aggressive with him and he’s reacting. How about keeping things more low key. I kiss my cats but gently. Some cats just don’t want you in their face.

My cats, even my ferals, love to rub their faces on mine. I kiss the tops of their heads. But this is on their own terms. I think gentler handling of your kitty will make him happier and more receptive.

I think it is fine to kiss cats. Just a light kiss though. If you are smooching him really hard, well…cats don’t like you in their face. I remember as a kid I had a kitty that was declawed (poor thing!) and I kissed her hard and got bitten. So just go easy on the smooching. But there are lots of other ways to shower affection on your kitties. Try scratching him (this is if he really trusts you) on the bridge of his nose, or right under the chin where there’s a patch of coarse fur.

catluvergirl, you can kiss him all you want but just dont kiss him so aggresively and hard, thats what he doesnt like. and he really doesnt like people getting in his face. my cat is like that too. just give him a little personal space and EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE you can kiss him, easily.

I agree with everyone else on this question. Some cats just don’t like being close to someone else , especially face to face. Think of it this way, a giant goes up to you, and starts kissing you VERY HARD. How would you like it??
