I am a first time owner of a 5 month old female cat. From what I have read, she is definetely going in to heat. Is there anything I can do for her or does she just have to go through it? She is rolling all over and floor and meowing wildly.

Please make sure you KEEP HER INDOORS while she is experiencing this. There are far too many unwanted cats in the world to contribute to that vicious cycle. She’ll be really annoying for a bit, but as long as you keep her from encountering any “functioning” males, it will be ok. There’s nothing you can do to relieve her at this point, short of spaying her.

Please consider spaying her as soon as she is done, if not immediately. It is possible to have her spayed while she is in heat, but some vets may charge more.

Call your veterinarian and schedule an appointment to have her spayed. Some vets won’t spay until the cat has come out of estrous (heat) or charge more to do it, so in the mean time keep her indoors and away from any un-neutered male cats or you will potentially have a litter of kittens to deal with (though frankly a cat that gets pregnant at 5 months old is just as likely to miscarry them, which is a medical emergency on its own).

If you get your cat spayed you won’t have to deal with this ever again and you won’t be contributing to the pet overpopulation and millions of cats and kittens being euthanized every year because there aren’t enough homes for them.

like telegram sam said, make the closest appointement to get her spayed, and it would be better for her if u wait until she passed through the heat, and another thing, take it from a person who passed through this, cats don’t have a specific time period like the period in human females, a cat may pass through it now then who knows when, maybe next week maybe a month maybe 2, and the cat when she has this urge she is feeling pain, and she is going to go through that again, so the best thing you can do for your cat is keep her indoors under all circumstances and when she sailed through the thing, directly get her spayed, this is what’s good for your cat, trust me, you don’t want her getting pregnant nor feeling the PHYSICAL pain she feels when needs it bad and can’t get it, trust me!

Your going to want to keep her inside and make sure she has somewhere to lay comfertly. Inless you are wanting to have her have kittens then I would get her fixed then you and her wouldnt have to go through this hard time.
