How do you train a 5 year old cat to start using the litter box again?
I don’t understand why Squeaky stopped using the box. One minute she’s using it, then the next minute, she’s finding a rug or carpet to do her business in. Is there something wrong with the litter? Can she be getting back at me for something? I tried changing the location of the box and everytime I did that, she’s start exploring it like it was a new religious experience and use it. Well, now, she’s stopped using it again! I never thought I’d hear myself say this but how can I make it so I have something to scoop out of the box at the end of the day? My mom wants her out of the house and we don’t want to house to be dirty and smell like cat waste. It’s bad enough keepinh her long mane under control.

The number one reason for cats peeing outside of their litter box is illness. Take her to the vet and have her checked for a urinary tract infection, she may just be looking around the house for a place to pee that “doesn’t hurt” which is why moving it makes a temporary solution.
There are other things you can try AFTER you’ve eliminated illness as a cause but a cat that used a litter box religiously before and suddenly starts NOT using it is always a red flag.
