Can you help me my husband’s cat is out of control what do I do?

1 Answer  |  Asked By: Sazy_Girl   2

What can I do? My husband rescued a kitten. The cat’s name is Steve. We think he is about 6 months old and we have had him for 3 months now. he loves to go up to your face in the middle of the night and tap you in the face for attention (with out scratches no claws out) even though gentle IT WAKES E UP even at 4 am. I have to put baby duck tape on the cabinet doors in kitchen, I will not result to baby locks for this out of control cat! NO. He bangs cabinets all over the house to get attention and he constantly wants attention.Get this one! There is a love seat near the hall entrance and the cat waits on the top of the sofa for someone to walk by in the middle of the night just to swat them! He is crazy he is all over the house! When the phone rings he runs to the phone and knocks the handset off the stand before I can get to it and people hang up. After awhile of this jokestir it just isn’t funny anymore. My husband thinks it hilarious but I don’t. It is a constant battle of the house what do I do!

Aww hehe yeah it sounds cute on paper but I know how annoying it can be when it doesn\\\’t stop. The best I can suggest for the midnight tapping is to lock him in a large room with his litter box (or rather, lock him out of your bedroom). I decided as soon as we got our kitten that there was no way this animal was going to sleep in the bed- it\\\’s just way too distracting. Midnight ambush attacks and kneading massages- while well intended, are a huge pain. She took to it pretty well. She cries first thing in the morning because she wants to get one of us up to feed her, but for the most part she\\\’s settled into having her own space pretty well. Just make sure he has his own comfy bed or crate (we found our cat loooves her crate) in addition to a little dry food, plenty of water and litter box, and he should be good to go. As for the ambushes and attacking the phone, the best thing you can do is play with the cat until he\\\’s too exhausted to move. I suggest a laser pointer for this. It\\\’s sort of the equivalent of a tennis ball to an ocd ball-obsessed labrador. A good 20 minutes of playing with that should knock him out for awhile. Cat nip toys are good too because they run around with them and tucker themselves out- so if he\\\’s driving you nuts with the cabinets/phone, just toss him a cat nip filled toy and that should occupy him for awhile. If you keep them away from the cat and only give them to him when he\\\’s all hyper-ed up, he\\\’ll be extra happy/excited to get the toy. I hope this helps! Remember, it could be worse- you could have a cat that ignores you :)
