What you do depends on weather your cat is peeing or spraying. peeing is… peeing. Spraying is when a cat is marking it`s territory to tell other cats to back off, like a no trespassing sign. What you described sounds like spraying. Spraying behavior is often triggered by stress and anxiety in the cat. Thats why I think your cat is spraying and not peeing. This bigger cat is making her anxious so she is marking her territory. There is always a cause for a cat to spray. Male cats also spray to advertise themselves to females, but since your cat is a female this is not the reason.

To stop your cat from spraying, you can spay it. Talk to your vet about it if you haven’t done so already. Studies show that 77% of cats stop spraying within 6 month`s of being spayed, so it`s a good idea. If you already have spayed your female cat, or spaying doesn`t help, there is another approach: anti-anxiety drugs.

If you haven’t guessed yet, anti-anxiety drugs for cats take away anxiety. They help calm down your cat and reduce the chance of it spraying. Their are some pros and cons about these drugs through.

Pros:
Stops your cat from performing stress related behavior (like spraying)
Calms them down to a degree

Cons:
It hasn`t been proven but some people say that anti-anxiety drugs on cats make them lose some personality and even become zombie-like.

Talk to your veterinarian about anti-anxiety drugs. Personally I would recommend Feliway®.

And that is all the advice I can give you, good luck medh13.

I've had some *human* friends who became zombie-like when put on anti-anxiety medication, especially on large doses. One thing you might want to try is a product like feliway that mimics the "friendly" pheromones cats produce in their cheek glands and has a calming affect on some cats. You can also keep your cat indoors where she will be safe from all sorts of dangers like cars, coyotes, other cats, dogs, toxic plants, pesticides, antifreeze and many other things.

Cedar and telgramsam both have very good answers. When I was able to bring my four feral babies inside then all the anxiety behavior stopped.

My Cat isn't spraying. She is weeing properly. She has been spayed as well. Next time I take my cat to the vet i will mention it. When the 'Evil' cat came into my house through the cat flap she wouldn't go into that room. Thanks anyway
