My 20 year old cat won’t eat and she is becoming dangerously skinny, what should I do?
I have a very old cat called Sneesy. For the past year or so she has been very skinny and almost never eats. She is also starting to lose fur and I am really worried. What should I do for her?

Well it depends. if she is really bad and i know its hard i would go to the vet and get her put to sleep. But she may just have the flu or something like mange. if you can ask your vet to help he or she will have better advice than me!

My 11 year old has ginivitis and had a sore at the back of his mouth that became infected ,therefore, he could not swallow. With a simple teeth cleaning and some anti-botics he was well within two days.

i am so sorry but their could be something seriously wrong with your cat you will have to go see a vet. If your cat gets put to sleep just remember it is better for your cat to be in heaven she won’t be suffering so she will be much happier there. You will also have a gardian cat angel watching over you. I am so sorry for you.

Thanks guys, we took her to the vet and they said to feed her kitten food. Apparently their is nothing wrong with Sneesy, its just that since she is getting older, trips from her favorite spot in the sun to the food bowl is harder then it used to be so she is doing it less often. We moved the food bowl close to her favorite place to sleep and we are feeding her kitten food because its more fattening. In a week or so I will say here if its working or not. Thank you everyone for the advice.

Even through sneesy is still incredibly skinny, she doesin’t seem fagile anymore. She walks around the house now and we don’t have to bring the food bowl to her as much- she goes to the food bowl. She also used to I am so glad I went to the vet, I don’t think I will have to put her down now. Thank you every one who helped. I am giving everyone a point.

I’d love to keep up with how you and Sneezy are doing. I, also have a cat that is 20 and skinny, but has plenty of energy. Chen seems happy, just has very loose stool and occasionally throws up. I keep two kinds of dry food available, and I am trying different wet food. The vet said kitten food wasn’t good for him due to it being harder to digest, but at this point, I’ll feed Chen whatever he wants.
