Licking is grooming.
And grooming happens when you have been accepted.
It’s a sign of love. Your kitty loves you. :o)

My cat Alissa does that to me. But she always tries to lick my face, and that I don’t like. But I let her lick my hands and stuff. It is just a way of them loving you and grooming you. If the cat did not like you then it would not do that. So think of it as a good thing. Sometimes it hurts, cause it feels like sand paper, but that is good for them to keep their fur clean…

That’s a good sign, not a bad one. It means your cat is accepting you into the group. Licking, or grooming, is a sign of love and affection.
