What i have done to protect my fish from my cats is duct tape the lid down, and also cut out cardboard to cover the exposed parts that the lid doesn\\\’t cover. Also the duct tape the cardboard if you use it, or it gets soggy. Not the most attractive solution, but so far all of my fish have been safe from my two cats.

We have this problem with our fish filters. The cats take off the tops and steal the sponge filters. Duct tape works but I hate the mess and stickiness it leaves behind. I use the clear packaging tape. I fold back 1/4 inch before I apply to the filter so I have a \\\”handle\\\” to lift up when I need to clean the filter. It also looks neater as it\\\’s practically invisible.

Here are some ideas
Evaluate. If you keep your fish tank in a place where the cat always goes, it probably isn\\\’t the best place. Move it to a room that you can close the door to, or to a shelf that isn\\\’t easy for your cat to reach. If the fish tank has a lid, even better! Use it.
Train. Use positive re-enforcement to keep the cat away from the tank. Don\\\’t let them sit next to the tank.
Stimulate. Give your cat something else to do, like chasing a catnip ball or a toy mouse. Maybe the cat is just bored.
Consider. Do you really want to have fish if your cat will eat them? Is it worth the effort to keep them apart?
Fortify. Make the tank virtually impossible to get into unless you have a pair of hands with opposable thumbs. A tight fitting cover that is too heavy for a cat too lift can virtually remove any chances of your cat getting to the fish.

This is normal behavoir for your cat. If its not to much work to move your aqurium then move it to a room snd keep the cat out.

If that does not work get the cat interested in toys not live animals. You could also put the fish in sepret tanks it will confuse the cat and he will give up.

Hope uyou find a way to solve the fish problem
