Do you think this kitten was abandoned by its mother?

I caught a kitten about a week and three days ago.And before I caught it,He would meow after I would.Almost like he was calling for his mother.Do you think he was abandoned by his mom???

some mother cats will kill or abandon their kittens. it sounds like he is calling for his mother. if you can keep him then maybe he will think you are his mother :] / hes a stray.

It probably was. That, or it had recently been weaned, and separated from mom. He may not have understood why his mom was sending him away, and he may still be looking for her.

it could be abondoned by his mom or another reason could be that he has been weaned and separated by his mom. his mom wanted him to go away and start his own new life.
he may have not understoood this and that is why he meows which means it is looking for his mom.

Oh that is so sad! Yes the kitten probably was calling for its mother, but there is really no way to tell for sure.
