My mother cat appeared to “attack” her 8 week old kitten after they were peacefully playing for over 10 minutes. The kitten ran away, but then came back a short while later and they resumed playing. There was no scratching, biting, or hissing, but I thought her behavior looked a bit aggressive. Was she just annoyed with the kitten or should I scold her if this happens again?

The mother cat was probably annoyed with the kitten. But was also establishing her dominance because it will soon be time for the kitten to go its own way. In fact, if these are not indoor cats, the mother may lead the kitten away and abandon it. They could have been playing pounce or feigned attack (both are survival skills). I would not scold the mother.

I agree with jpete46 that the mother was reprimanding the kitten for \\\”bad\\\” or annoying behavior. Definitely do NOT scold the mother.

The kitten was probably misbehaving and its mother was simply scolding it. You shouldn\\\’t scold the mother because she is just teaching them the rules. She could have even been trying to pick it up to move it if she appeared to be biting it.
Hope this Helps! >^_^<
