Not all cats like to be held. She\\\’s a female, too, which stereotypically can mean less affectionate. So perhaps she just doesn\\\’t like being held.

Are you holding her properly, ensuring that she is well supported? Tips here: http://www.pets.ca/pettips/tips-24.htm

How old is the cat? How long have you had her? If she\\\’s a newer member of your family, she may just not be comfortable with you yet.

Some cats interpret holding and petting as actions of dominance, especially pulling the cat to you or holding it down. The cat would be more comfortable if you could just rest your hand on her rather than hold her. Or she may just be showing her independence.
