Mean Cat

I would suggest locking the cat up in a room when you have guests. Thay way your guests wouldn’t be bitten. Sometimes young kittens tend to bite because they, like puppies loose their milk teeth and get adult teeth. You will need to wait that one out. They will out grow it. Now I have a friend who’s cat bit and drew blood. I’m not talking about the small scratch of the skin, I’m talking about deep puncher wounds. When he bit me he took flight. It was just a knee jerk reaction to get him off of me. He ended up across the room. He never did bite me again. They tried a spray bottle of water, spanking. Nothing was working. They gave him a toss. (Not one that would of hurt him). Each member of the family had to do that. He stopped bitting. This was a last resort for them. Try the spray bottle and a stern NO, and keep at it. I hope your cat is not like theirs, because the only other thing they were going to be able to do was to take him to kill shelter, a rescue was not going to take him, and she couldn’t have her kids being bitten. Also, don’t pet her unless she asks you to. She will come to you. Your cat sounds like she is hunting you. You have to show her that you are not her prey. That means showing her you are bigger and stronger than her.

Cats tend to be very independent so i recommend not to go and pet her but wait till she comes to you. Do this with any other social idea that includes touching her body. This might seem like you are not taking good care of your cat but really all they want is to fell independent and safe. Also when she bites you say NO firmly and pick her up gently in your bathroom for a minute(a cat time out) or you could walk away. Then if she comes to you and you pet her and she does NOT bite, you reward her with a toy or her favorite type of food. A way for your cat to be comfortable with touch is to simply play with her with her favorite toy so that touch is not the goal but the outcome. This might take up to 6 months of doing(i don’t think it will) but after a while your cat will learn what to do and what not to do. Cats ten to want to be nice to there owners they just don’t know how. Tell any guests this to because your cat might be scared of someone new coming into the house. Unless you have new gusts all the time you should tell them not to touch her, if she comes to them it is fine. She also might get used to having new guests if you have a lot of them. Please also check with your vet because cats can be aggressive in any type of pain. I have a kitten who was abused and aggressive in the beginning. Take your time and be patient it will be worth it in the end.

cats get very defensive…try not to raise your voice, it usually makes them go into defense mode, and only pet her for a few seconds at a time just on her head… a lot of cats dont like to be pet anywhere except there head
