It depends on the age. If it is under 2 years of age, it should be easy. It already had to move to your house, and if it is moving again, it should just get use to it.

On the other hand, if it is an adult, results may vary. If I was moving, I’d put my cat in the same car I’m in, so you can see her reactions. I’ve heard of some cases where they may try to find their old home, and get lost because the cat couldn’t find the home. If you are worried that the cat may run away, but her into a room with no windows, and a door, so that the cat won’t escape. But don’t neglect her. Let her know that you are still there, and visit her in the room often. Make sure that there is fresh litter, new food, and fresh water in the room with the cat, so that the cat has a better chance of using them.

If it is an old senior, it will more than likely be too tired to try to run away.

For carrying the litter box, I would empty it. But, if it is a long car trip, and your cat may actually need the litter box, I would suggest having other people help you carry it.

Your cat may be scared into moving into a new house, so be ready to make the cat feel comfortable in it’s new suroundings. It may even act as it did if you adopted and you brought it into the house. New suroundings go for different reactions in cats. It depends on your cat.

Clean out the litter box and take it with you like that. Your cat will be kind of freaked out at first but just give it lots of love and he will get used to it. Let him explore at his own pace too. He won’t run away he will want to be near you all the time because you are the only familiar thing to him.

It really depends on the age. If the cat is young, it might cry. But everyone will get used to the new home.

In the car,for your kitties safety and yours, put her/him in a carrier. Depending on how far you are going, they shouldn’t need the litter box unless you’ll be on the road for several hours. I’ve traveled with mine a little over five hours and she was fine. I’ve moved a few times and everytime i was moving at least one cat,all different ages. If your cat is an indoor cat, you’ll be fine. They will be a little scared due to the new surroundings but they usually get used to it really quick. They still have familiar smells around them like your furniture and clothes and you so it’s not totally new. They may hide a little at first but soon enough they’ll come out and sniff everything to check it all out and it should only take a couple days maybe a week and they should be pretty comfortable.
