They\\\’re just adjusting their eyes to the light. As would you when the light is abruptly turned on after you\\\’ve been in the dark.

No. It is just a reaction. You do the same thing when you go to the movie theatre. It is dark, and then when you walk out into the sun you close your eyes quickly so the pupils will not be at that much of a shock. Its normal.
