So one of my neighbors found a litter of kittens in by their house yesterday, rummishing through the trask. I took one home. If I would guess I would say about 8 weeks old. I plan on taking to vet to get checked out. I bought a high quality dry kitten food and wet food, which he is eating, as well as fresh water. This has been 1 day now and he still has not relived himself even after putting him in the litter box a few timest. He has not slept either,I kept him under the covers with me all night but was very active and would meow all night and kept bitting at my ears. I understand this is a new environment for him and a bit strange, but is there anything else I should be doing, prior to seeing the vet? He is just a little geezer and his ears are clean, his eyes apear clear, his attitude is alert, he just now started to purr. When I walk out of the room he crys non stop.

If it was caught outdoors, it probably doesn\\\’t know what a litter box is for, and is crying to go outside to relieve itself. The mother cat teaches the kittens when and where to go by licking their back end. You may have to put the kitten in the litter box and use a soft, damp cloth or paper towel to simulate the mother cat by wiping its back end (just under the tail).

I say you should try and making your new kitty a bed. All you need is a basket or a box, a clock that ticks, a blanket, and something that smells like you. Make it cozy and warm. Remember it\\\’s a baby so it might not need that much dry cat food. You might want to try baby kitty milk. They sell it at Wallmart. An you might not want to get stuck buying price cat food for the cats whole life. Bargain cat food is just as good and has the same things in it if you read them. But it is up to you. An since it is a boy you might want to think about keeping him inside and not letting him out. Tom-cats can beat him up or kill him. An you might want to fix him. But that is up to you to. My cat is a boy 1 1/2 yrs. old and indoors and he doesn\\\’t spray. So he is not fixed and stays inside.

All great answers, Nye2001. As for having such a young kitty, I can relate. I found a 4-month old by the side of the road. Your kitty is in good shape compared to what this little fella looked like! After a couple trips to the vet, he\\\’s happy and healthy. He\\\’s also up all night, running around, jumping on the bookcase, knocking things off my dresser and driving his three older brothers crazy! Your kitty bites your hands because he thinks you are playing with him. He will \\\’cry\\\’ alot, but if you know he is warm, fed, taken care of and not sick, he should be ok till you go to the vet. Good luck with the little one and take good care of him!

If he\\\’s been without food, chances are he will relieve himself in a day or so once his digestion system levels out. I would definitely get him to the vet to verify his age and be checked out thoroughly. Watch out for Walmart brands of catfood as some are down right lousy food.

Remember its a baby and used to spending all its time with its mother and siblings so its probably loney. Also I don`t know what its like where you are, but here cats mostly sleep during the day and are away at night (but days are v hot here) so its possible he just doesn`t want to sleep at the same time as you.
I have a new kitten the same age and he spends all day asleep on someones lap and as soon as its dark he gets up to play. He was also a stray so important point to remember… he\\\’s probably confident outside and thinks its pooing is something you do outside. Give him time and if possible take him outside sometimes to play and poo and w/e (don\\\’t be too scared of him running away it sounds like he already thinks you\\\’re mummy!)

if he\’s stopping you sleeping its worth keeping him awake for longer during the day and playing with him lots to wear him out (but stop well before you go to bed or he\\\’ll still be hyper while you\’re trying to sleep!)
he also needs to learn that when you get into bed its not play time any more so no matter what he does don\’t play with him! Put him on top of the covers and try and ignor him, Maybe give him a toy like a piece of string (or my cats\’ favourite, a pen) and hopefully he\’ll wear himself out and go to sleep
good luck!

well, I\\\’d say that cat is obviously attached to you and wants to play with you. just play with him lots like kathfish89 said and make sure je is worn out pretty well. if you know what breed it is I say do research on that breed and see what is wrong and what will help him!

Spend a lot of time with him and get him used to other people. You can all so play with him to make him not as active while you are try to sleep.
