That’s rough when you’re so young with asthma. That’s the kind of condition that can be so individual in its triggers, depending on allergies and activities that may or may not set you into attack. Time and experience lead to better control. I understand why your parents would be hesitant to throw a cat into the mix.

I don’t really have any good advice other than to see how cats impact your asthma. Spend time at houses of friends who own cats. If you can stay in their homes, especially overnight or for a prolonged period of time, without having an attack triggered, maybe you could use that as evidence for your argument.

Your parents are very concerned about your health and rightly so. We adopted a bird 15 years ago because his owner had asthma. The girl ended up in the hospital several times because of him. It's not fun and I sympathize with you about this. I think ziggy had some very good advice about spending time at other people's house who have cats and see how that affects you. I don't think it's fair to a cat to get one and leave it outside. It's not the animals' hair itself that causes problems, but the dander. Dander isn't hair or fur, it's old skin scales which are constantly shed. All dogs and cats have dander, even if they don't shed! Here are some ideas that can help reduce the risk of an asthma attack: Keep pets off beds and out of bedrooms. Wash your pet with pet shampoo weekly to reduce the number of allergens in their skin. Dust and clean all surfaces thoroughly with a damp cloth or mop to remove pet dander that can act as an asthma trigger. After playing with pets wash your hands and clothes. Use a vacuum with a High Efficiency Air Filter; it will help clean the air and may remove pet dander. Keep clothing worn when playing with the pet out of your bedroom. Close vents or put filter paper over vents to decrease the amount of fur floating around the house.

Have your parents tested you for cat allergies? I tested positive for dogs and negitive for cats. I agree with ziggybot about trying to stay at someones house that have cats. See how it works out for you.

Asma is a kind of sickness where that you cannot go near those furry cats, dogs, birds, hamsters and other fluffy or furry things,I have asma last time, but now its gone,If you want to cure asma, the best way to do it is to get some chinese traditional medicine. My asma got cured by one of those medicines, thats why now i have cats in my house!Don’t take other medicines, you know those like thing that people get sick at the hospital they put it on ther mouth,NO,i took it for 5 years and still nothing happens, but one day……

….I went to a chinese doctor,he gave me some sort of brownish chinese traditional medicine, not long about 3 weeks.my asma was gone. So,maybe you can trust chinese medicine, but, lets just get to the point.

Asma will make you more sick when you get to furry animals,if it is too serious, you may DIE.This is because asma will grow more when it get to furry animals. In the anmals fur, they have some sort of bacteria that will make asma from getting OK to bad to worse to worst. When its gets to worst, your life is endangered.

So,always be aware of furry things.Hope that you can get well!

I’ve had cats and I hav athsma but mine isn’t bad I think it depends on how bad your athsma is because if its really bad you might want to get a shorthair but if its not that bad then tell them that you should get a cat and how bad your asthma is
