I got one cat on purpose. I have since taken in two sets of kittens, four in one litter, one I gave away, and two out of another litter. They had a mom who could not care for them. I now have five cats I need to find homes for. They range from 10 months to 1 1/2 years old. Some one PLEASE give these cats a good home. We are located in Ga.

Which area of Georgia are you in? I would not just give these cats away to anyone, a lot of people who answer “free to a good home” ads are “bunchers” - people who collect and sell dogs and cats to laboratories for animal testing. Some are just not suitable homes. You should contact rescue organizations and no-kill or low-kill animal shelters in your area and see if they will list your cats for adoption or place them in foster homes. The only way to ensure they won’t be neglected, dumped or used for lab animals is to find a rescue that will screen potential adopters for you. I realize that this is a frustrating situation but there are organizations out there that exist for this sort of thing.

thank you for your response. i guess i was being naive about people on this site. I am an animal lover and was hoping to connect with other animal lovers that could help me, and you have. I am in a small town ga. that has the worst animal shelter…i would not put them there as they would surely see death…I saved them and want to find good homes for them. Maybe I can check in a larger community near by that may be able to help locate good homes for them. Thanks again for your help and concern for my cats…they are all named and a part of my family now. I want to find good homes with people to care for them…

Good luck finding home for your cats. You do have to watch out though, there are dishonest people out there who do not have your furry friends' best interests in mind. "Small town" doesn't help me much though. You don't have to tell me your home address but something like "north georgia" or "south of Atlanta" might help me track down a cat rescue that is not too far away. If your local shelter (I'm assuming it's run by the municipal animal control if it's that bad) is useless you might want to try to find some non-profit, independent rescue organizations that could at least maybe give you some advice. I would look for you on the internet myself but without knowing what region you are in I can't do too much other than a general list like this page: http://www.kittysites.com/rescue_ga.shtml

So... Savannah or Valdosta area then? http://www.coastalpetrescue.org/ and http://www.savaware.8m.com/ are in Savannah I think, as well as the humane society of chatham co/savannah. http://www.pgaa.com/georgia.html has a list that includes some statewide rescues. Valdosta has its own humane society as well. http://www.animalshelter.org/shelters/Georgia.asp has a list of a lot of local SPCA's if those areas are not what you are talking about.
