What Breed Is Best?

11 Answers  |  Asked By: Purr-Its-Paige   27

Recently, one of beloved cats passed away, leaving the other alone. We were thinking of adopting another cat to keep our lonely feline company.

We are trying to decide what breed would be best for a family pet, and that wouldn’t mind being held and cuddled.

Our cat is a Domestic Shot-Haired Ginger and is a male, incase this information is of help.

Honestly, while breeds do have profile descriptions, it does not mean that picking a breed that likes to be cuddled, would land you with a cuddly cat. All cats are different, nothing is gaurenteed until a cat grows up and into it’s own purrsonality.

A great option for you would be to check out local rescues, shelters, humane societies and pounds in your area by searching http://www.petfinder.com and see if there is a cat that catches your eye. Rescuing a cat from a shelter gives youthe same chance of getting a cuddly cat from a breeder, but from a rescue… you get to knwo you saved a life. :o)

Thanks for the advice. While I do know that cats gradually develop a personality as they grow older, I also know that certain cats are quite strange and do not like being held, like Siamese. Though you are very right!

I am sad that your cat has died. It grieves me to hear of a pet, esspecially a cat, pass away.
It is a good idea to adopt a new feline to keep your cat company.
I think you should get a breed that is the breed of your late cat. It would be remind you of your beloved cat who passed away. I hope you will enjoy your cats while they are alive, treasure them, for they truly make the wonderful companions.
Good luck,
catluvergirl.
P.S Please message me with what breed of cat you decided on, I would like to hear.

I was so sad to heear of the sad pasing away of your belvoed cat but you can rest in the knowlege that you did your very best for it and it had a good life with you and it’s little fury friend.

I think any cat would be fine so long as you don’t put two girl cats or two boys cats togeher or they mite fight. A good place to find a new cat companon would be an animal shelter or cats home.

My cat is called Carol because she came at Christmas and she was a stray.

With kind gegards.
