Here are a couple pictures of my cat named Higgins. He is about 5 months old and I adopted him from the local Petsmart. He is a great cat and I am trying to determine his breed. He is very energetic, playful, curious, all the kitten qualities. He loves to play fetch with me and loves to purr and be petted. He is very soft and this makes me think he may be part ragdoll although he doesnt look like a ragdoll. He has a tuxedo coat and a long bushy tail. Any guesses on his breed?

Domestic Shorthair.
Which is to say, any regular cat with a short-to-medium length coat. Most cats aren\\\’t a \\\”breed\\\” at all like dogs tend to be since they aren\\\’t deliberately bred as often, most are just plain cats, and unless you have pedigree papers, it\\\’s just a cat.
He\\\’s a very cute kitty though, love the long whiskers!

ok this just curious is he a \\\’smokey\\\’ cat? pet him backwards (so the hairs stick up) and if he has a white under coat then he is some sort of mutated hybrid (is that orange on his stomach?). mutation is never a positive or negitive thing. Both of mine are mutated! I think he is a Main Coon!!!!!! You\\\’re so lucky that\\\’s my favorite breed!!!! And the smokey thing was just to figure out what kind of parents he had!! But, I now understand that he has rare mutations in his fanily so that means nothing. and how old is he?? i can tell you if im right depending on his age.

Maine coons have thick fur, tufted ears and fur between their toes. This cat doesnt look even slightly like a maine coon.;

Wonderful whiskers. Is Higgins small or are his whiskers super long as they appear? I can\\\’t see anything in the picture pointing to any one (or more) particular breed. I would just brag that he is a mixed-breed tuxedo. I have a long-haired tuxedo female that looks so much like Higgins, and she seems to have the sweetest disposition of any of my cats.

His fur is black and not smokey when I pet him backwards, but his tail is very smokey. His tail has a lot of gray in it and the lady who I adopted him from called him \\\”Old man kitty\\\”.
He is 5 months but he is a big kitty already, I have a feeling when he is full grown he may be pretty large. His whiskers are super long and I posted another picture below to show you them. I captured them with the camera flash and they look cool. I think he may be part Maine Coon bases on his temperment and personality. Thanks for the responses!

i got it! And the fact that he is 5 months helps a lot! Main Coons are considered to be 1 of the fatest breed of cat! I remember my fat little coon!

Maine coons are longer and taller than other breeds but they shouldnt be FAT. If your cat is too fat, you are feeding it too much.

I have seen cats that look like that and most of them that I have met are black siamese cats crossed with another breed

It\\\’s funny because there are a lot of these tuxedo looking cats in the neighborhood where my boyfriend lives. I\\\’ve seen a bunch of them possibly five on one little sub street. Anyway I think they are very charming. He/she is definitely a mixed cat, probably a mixture of different domestic shorthair cats. He/she should be very healthy and live pretty long seeing as most mixed cats have a large gene pool and don\\\’t suffer from inbreeding.
