We have a lot of great shelters and rescue agencies in Ohio. If you’re near central Ohio, the Cat Welfare Association (http://www.catwelfareohio.com/), Colony Cats (link below), and the Franklin County Animal Shelter are all great places to look for your new furry friend.
When you go to a shelter, you will have the opportunity to interact with the kitten. They usually put the two of you in a small room/enclosure together. If the kitten is responsive to you, alert, interested in being petted, playful, etc., then you know you’ve found the right kitten.

I forgot about the Capital Area Humane Society - they are wonderful. http://www.cahs-pets.org/

If you're not in the central Ohio area, you can always try: http://www.petfinder.com/ They act as a directory for adoption agencies all over the country.

Are you planning on adopting from a sheleter? There are millons of poor homeless kittens&cats that would love to live with you and with your male ‘king’.
And when you do get another animal, please remember to spay/neuter them. Why should more unwanted kittens be brought into a cruel world where they’ll die starving on the streets?
Thank You on the behalf of the R.I.S.P.C.A.
Good luck =^-^=

Ziggy–great answere! I’m impressed. I always am looking up http://www.petfinder.com and would most deffinetly recomend it! It brings up all of the local shelters nearest you. You can pick the breed, and even in advanced pet search pick the name! Try it. Please adopt from a shelter, also. Millions of kittens and cats need homes there and are waiting for you!

My cat, Demi is a american shorthair. How I found her is I went to a shelter and saw her and I knew she was the kitten for me. I wanted a cat that would sit in my lap for hours and loved to be petted. Instead I got a cat that hates to be petted never will even lay near me and is extremly playful and I have no regets.
