where can i get a hairless cat? I have really bad pet allergies but I love cats. I’m hoping this will alleviate my suffering.

Hairless cats aren’t actually hypoallergenic. They still produce dander (dead skin cells), saliva and urine which is what people have allergic reactions to.
You can buy a cat that has the gene removed that causes allergiv reactions, but they cost about $25,000.00 and the wait list is years.
Good Luck!

great answer. i hope everyone knows that cats that are hairless or with shorter fur arent actually hypo allergenic

Actually those 25-grand cats are a scam, if you're referring to Allerca/Lifestyle Pets, and are not truly hypoallergenic.

Hairless cats are not hypoallergenic. At. All. It’s a complete myth. What causes cat allergies in most people is a protien in the saliva, and sometimes the animal’s dander which comes from the skin, not the fur.
If you really MUST have a cat, your best bet is to get a light-colored cat (black cats produce more of the allergen for some reason) and to have the animal brushed and bathed often to remove dander, and do not handle the food and water bowls or allow the cat to lick you.
Truth be told, if you have a cat allergy, you are probably better off getting a different type of pet or going without unless your doctor believes your allergies can be adequately controlled with medication or some other kind of therapy.

i would suggest getting a russian blue. russian blues are hypoallergenic, and they have think beautiful fur, coming in the colors grey, black, and white, though i personally think that grey is the most beautiful. they are an average active breed, and theyre not suppossed to be very vocal, but my russian blue is an exception. russian blues are such a sweet breed, and they are one of the only two cats that have a double coat of fur

Yes, a shaved cat would not be hypo allergenic. If you wanted one, it is very expensive.

i have an aunt thats very allergic to cats and she gets some kind of shot from her doctor and lives with three cats. Speak to an allergist because other than the allerca cat there is no such thing as a allergy free cat hair or no hair.
