The most popular cat breed.

How can I choose just one!? If forced to choose, I guess I would go with domestic medium hair.

I don’t know a whole lot about all the different breeds out there, but of those I’m familiar with, I love the Siamese or Orientals for their coloring. The Himalayans combine that coloring with the longer hair which I find appealing. I have one DMH and one short hair, and I find the longer hair to be less annoying shed-wise. So I think a Himmy would be good in that sense.

For personality, I would also like an Oriental because I do like vocal cats. On the other hand, I also like whatever breed is characterized by lovingness.

I wouldn’t want a breed like a Persian where you’re going to have to deal with runny eyes. And I’m not interested in any breeds that are known to have genetic defects. Exotics are cool, but luckily the lack of ching in my wallet means I’ll never have to decide between buying one of those or going with a shelter mutt.

Oh heck, I just love them all!

Well, my favorite breeds are the Charteux and the Russian Blue. In my lifetime, I have had Maine Coons, Persians, Charteux, Russian Blue’s, Norwegian Forest Cats, Sphynx (I hate Sphynxs) and many alley cats.
Even though I like Chartreaux and Russian Blue the best, they are not the most common breed in the U.S. Even though many people said a plain old alley cat was the most popluar breed in the U.S, they were wrong. An alley cat, is usually not a breed. An alley cat is a mix of breeds. Sure it may be the most popular KIND of cat in the U.S, but in the U.S, the most popular BREED is actually the Persian, followed by the Maine Coon.
