May I say that the thing you should do is put the cat near the litter box. I did that to my cat when I got him and it works just fine.

I have tips for your question #1 Its okay to let your cat to go out sometimes beacause if your cat cleans itself and eats the grass outside it helps it digest its hair .So it won//t have hair balls .#2 You just need to make sure your cat does not get out of your yard but maybe you should//nt if there is dogs, foxes etc. I don//t know what your yard looks like or if it is near dogs and animals like that.I mean you know I just like to help.....#3 DO NOT take your cat out at night it could get run over by a car or an animal could have rabies and bite your cat who knows.#4I am pretty sure that it is not a good idea (a really bad idea if u live in a freezing climate ) to let your cat go outside in winter your cat could get frost bite.#5 Its not a good idea to let your cat go out if you live in a hot climate like california.your cat could get over heated.I know lots of other things for cats but can remember sorry.
