i had a cat named Sammy years ago. He was a rescue as well. He was used as bait in a pittbull fighting ring prior to coming to live with my family. He was never comfortable around other animals. I had him for over 8 years before he passed. Over time he would tolerate other animals, but he was never friendly. Cat's, especially male cats, i found out are more aggressive toward other animals if they were harmed by them. He was very loving toward some women, but prefered no contact with other cats. He would spit and yell and shake around dogs. Keep the cats seperate and be understanding toward the cat for ot's feelings. The unfortunate thing for us when we rescue an animal is that we have no knowledge of where they have been. Bravo to you for helping that kitty!

My brother had his dog cremated after he passed on. This really seemed to help him.

I got my cat as a kitten. She (in warm weather) loves to play outside with the dog. She was VERY affectionate and purred all the time.
