Cat Behavior

I too would suggest neutering as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it may not bring a halt to your problem, but it may make it easier to prevent his action from becomming habit. I have a female stray that I got spayed six months ago at about two yrs of age. Most of my cats are ferals, so when she wanted to sit in my lap I didn\\\'t mind. But apparently my petting of her head and neck is overly stimulating, and her kneading of my thigh was too much (I think she has sewing needles instead of claws). But when I tried to stop the kneading, she would try to nip at my hand or wrist. Now I just move her off my lap and my petting is more cursory. This is not meant to discourage you from getting him neutered, just pointing out possibilities. Good luck.

It could be going there for privacy, or possibly it doesn\\\'t like the kind of litter you have. If you are using one with a fragrance, switch to one that is fragrance-free. Or it might be uncomfortable for another reason. Box too small, litter too dusty, not cleaned often enough, needs (wants) his own box not fouled by another cat.

Cat Behavior

Tigger, domestic shorthair mother of most of my ferals, hisses at all other cats (except one), especially her kittens. She was not a very confident or competent mother, although she taught them everything necessary. Since being fixed, she couldn\\\'t stand the pressure of being around her kittens and moved to the woods a block away. She comes over here to eat, but will hiss at any cat that heads in her direction, except for Tribble who adopted her and the kittens and serves as guardian angel to them. The \\\'kittens\\\' are now 12 to 18 months old. She not only hisses at them, she lets the smallest chase her away. She is afraid of them. It is sad to watch her kittens, who really love and miss her, be rejected by her. She never lets any of them get close enough to her for her to recognize their smell. She is also frightened by most people. I think it started out that she did not want any competition, but that is no longer it. Only two of the others hiss, and that is when a certain stray tom comes around, and that is territorial.

Cat Tales

meowmiss said what you said \\\"run away from you\\\", implying that your cat is staying out of your reach (not run away from home) so that you can\\\'t put another costume on her.
